Dental Insurance – Worcester, MA
Helping Families Maximize Their Dental Savings
At Kids' Smiles on Lincoln, we believe that filing for dental insurance should be as simple as possible. Being in-network with a wide variety of providers does make things easier for our dental patients and their parents, and we also have a team of dental insurance experts who can show you the best way to maximize your coverage. On this page, we’ve put together a brief guide that covers the basics of dental insurance. Contact our team if there’s anything else you’d like to know about your plan.
Understanding How Dental Insurance Works
With dental insurance, you pay a premium every month, and in exchange your insurance company helps pay for dental services that you receive. Some services get better coverage than others, and that’s due to the fact that dental insurance is designed with prevention in mind. Your insurance company will pay more for preventive treatments that stop cavities and gum disease from forming. This way, if you have your regular checkups and cleanings performed, both you and your insurance company will save money.
What Your Dental Insurance Plan Covers
We can’t tell you exactly what your dental insurance covers until we know what plan you belong to, as each provider is different. The typical framework, though, is 100% coverage for preventive treatments, 80% for minor restorations, and 50% for major restorations. What counts as “minor” and “major” can be slightly different depending on the plan. Treatments that aren’t medically necessary, like teeth whitening, are not included in a majority of dental plans.
We Offer In-Network Savings & Welcome Out-of-Network Providers
An in-network dental office is one that has reached an agreement with your insurance provider to provide services at a set rate, which ultimately saves you money. With out-of-network practices, there is no such agreement, but your plan can still be accepted. At our practice, we’re in-network for most insurances and file claims for many out of network providers as well. Call our pediatric dental office with your insurance information so that we can confirm what coverage you have.
