Dental Checkups & Teeth Cleanings

These semi-annual checkups involve us performing a comprehensive exam of your teen’s smile. We’ll point out any problem areas and they’ll also receive a deep teeth cleaning. It’s very easy for teens to miss out on these appointments, but they’re essential for ensuring that little issues don’t turn into bigger ones!

Dental Sealants

Even for older children, cleaning the back teeth can be tricky, which is why molars commonly develop cavities. Fortunately, placing a dental sealant over them is a simple and effective preventive measure that only takes a few minutes. We’ll simply paint a clear composite resin onto the teeth, and it’ll harden into an invisible barrier that shields the enamel from plaque and bacteria.

Fluoride Treatment

Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral that’s found in several types of dental hygiene products, as well as most local water supplies. We can also apply a fluoride treatment during a routine checkup to provide your teen’s teeth with an added layer of protection against decay and cavities.

Tooth-Colored Fillings

It’s rare for children to go throughout their teens 100% cavity-free despite our best efforts, but if one should pop up for your child, we can easily fix it in just one appointment. The tooth-colored fillings we provide can be shaded to match any patient’s enamel, creating a seamless result that blends into the smile.  

Root Canals /Pulpotomy

If your teen is suffering from a persistent toothache, it might be due to an infected dental pulp, which is the sensitive nerve tissue located at the center of every tooth. To repair the tooth and stop the pain, our team can carefully remove the infected tissue while leaving any healthy parts behind, allowing the tooth to remain inside the mouth rather than having to be removed and replaced.

Frenectomies

The mouth contains small bands of soft tissue that are attached to both lips as well as the tongue. These help with the function of the mouth, but sometimes, they can be so short and thick that they prevent a child from speaking or eating normally. We can correct this problem with a quick, painless, minor surgical procedure we can perform right in our office.

Emergency Dentistry

Nobody can predict a dental emergency – but when they do occur, quickly seeking help will always be in your teen’s best interest. If they’ve been in an accident or are experiencing a large amount of dental pain, call our office at once and we’ll talk you through what to do over the phone and let you know when you can come in, even if it’s on that very same day.

Dental Crowns

Designed to look just like real teeth, crowns fit over the tops of compromised teeth above the gumline, allowing the tooth to remain inside the mouth and look and function properly. We personally design all of our crowns to match every smile, and the process of getting one only takes two quick visits. Afterward, it can be expected to last for multiple decades with the right care!

Tooth Extractions

We’ll only suggest removing your teen’s tooth if it’s absolutely necessary. Problems like cavities that cover the entire tooth or severe fractures can sometimes warrant this treatment, or we may need to remove any leftover baby teeth that haven’t fallen out on their own. Whatever the case may be, we’ll prioritize your teen’s comfort from beginning to end.

Athletic Mouthguards

A large percentage of dental injuries, like displaced teeth, occur during contact sports – meaning an athletic mouthguard can make a huge difference in your teen sustaining a minor or a major injury while on the field. Our team can provide them with a device made exclusively for their teeth, so it’ll feel comfortable to wear while providing incredible protection.
